Principal Mechanical Engineer
The job holder is one of the key members of the design team having responsibility for the mechanical equipment engineering. The job holder is responsible for design and specifying mechanical equipment. In addition the job holder shall support the inspections and quality control during the manufacturing of the equipment.
Development of low cost sourcing suppliers for mechanical equipment is also part of the scope
Responsible for design of 1000 to 5 000 Mechanical man-hours pa
Responsible for review of corresponding supplier documents.
A Mechanical Engineer acts as the technical interface between AP project execution teams. The primary purpose is the delivery of a safe, fit for purpose design to an agreed schedule and budget.
Providing support to other AP engineering centers as workload requires.
V. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leading a team for engineers/designers for basic / detail engineering Leading coordination with other functions, deliverable and manhours controls, ensuring deliverable qualities.
Reviewing customer technical requirements and specifications and incorporate into project designs.
Modeling equipment with Code compliance using commercially available software like Compress, PV Elite etc.
Preparation of Project Equipment Specifications (Mechanical Datasheets), co-ordination with other disciplines like Process, Piping, Electrical, Process Controls, Civil & Structures, Process Safety, Construction etc across different regional offices or Licensors
Prepare technical specifications for enquiry / purchase and conduce bid tab reviews, prepare Technical Bid Tabs.
Design and detail engineering of equipment such as like Waste Heat Recovery Boilers, Flares, Steam Superheaters, Fired Heaters, Burners, Injectors and other Refractory lined equipment etc. subject to high temperatures / pressures.
Critical engineering inspections at vendor shop and site for equipment listed above, mechanical completion activities, refractory application etc.
Providing timely & practical support to site engineering teams for resolving the issues, clarifications etc.
Participating in critical reviews like Audits, Model reviews and Hazop etc.
Identification and qualification of vendor to support the business needs.
Driving the cost optimization through innovation and out of the box solutions.
Developing teams to strengthen the organization position to manage execution of multiple large-scale projects.
V. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum BE Mechanical required, ME or MTech is relevant field preferred.
Minimum 12+ years of professional experience performing detailed engineering and stress analysis of high temperature pressurized equipment.
Working knowledge of ASME Section 1, Section VIII Div. 1 and 2, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and TEMA standard, API 560, API 530, API 535, NFPA 85, API 556, API 521, API 537, API 538 API 660, API 662 and API 650 standards, ASME Section V & Section IX, NACE MR0103 and MR0175.
Experience in material selection, welding, testing and quality control is required. Should have hands on experience in reviewing the material requirements for material like Cr-Mo alloys, Stainless Steels, Duplex material.
Experience in applying engineering principles in a field environment is beneficial.
Effective communication skills and the ability to lead global team members to closure on technical issues.
Experience in Methanol, SRU and Ammonia
