Mechanical Designer – Simulations

 

 

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Manage high impact, complex transfer projects that enables Philips to reduce risk, improve profitability, align with Philips’ strategic supply base and optimize supply chain flexibility. The primary function within this role is to execute engineering activities through the course of fast-paced, high quality transfer projects.

You will be responsible for driving meaningful and innovative product development, generating ideas/concepts in feature development to improve quality and reduce cost, as well as performing the role of a technical lead in taking the product development through manufacturing release while transferring products between suppliers.

You are responsible for

Providing hand calculations/ simulations for ‘digital verification of design’
Providing recommendation for mutual consistency and efficient integration of the separate modules in modular, easy-to-maintain units, optimized system packaging that meets the product specification.
Understanding consequences of design by conducting simulations and communicates to the designer.
Keeping abreast of technical developments in own field through study of the literature, and technical contacts, and propagates it.
Bringing industry practice and various product perspective for discussion and decision
Accurate results interpretation and reporting recommendations for design change. Gains product knowledge at component level, sub-system level and System level to understand design CTQs and its impact
Proactive approach and work with designers to gain good understanding of product development phase and introduce simulation steps
Preparing design manual for Simulation tasks; Release Designer’s guide on simulation methods and results
Prepare, plan, track and coordinate cross functional teams located across geographies and manage project deliverable.
Accountable for overall delivery of project in line with QMS and PRP process as per the agreed multi-site Quality Agreement.
Coaching and Supporting junior team members
Ensuring business continuity and revenues.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

M.Tech /B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience in simulations of mechanical sub-systems & systems, system packaging
Expertise in simulation of complex subassemblies involving fabricated, machined, casting and sheet metal parts.
Expertise in simulation of system packaging optimization involving corrugated box, wood, dampener, fabricated and sheet metal parts.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art in programming and design methods & tools (Simulation – ANSYS, Hyper mesh) along with pre-processing and Post-processing of ANSYS.
Expertise on results interpretations with engineering fundamentals. Expertise on various analyses types through simulation and its results interpretation- Static, Dynamic, Harmonic, Thermal, etc
Knowledge of reliability required
Analytical, creative, and abstract thinker.
Ability to support and direct the Engineers in a subgroup.
