SEO Operations Manager


The role focuses on managing key processes that are critical to success of SEO group. As a leader, the person is responsible for the day-to-day operations, setting/managing expectations, implementing guidelines, providing support, and mentoring team members. This person is expected to deliver strategic SEO projects like content gap analysis, keyword research, competitor site teardown, etc. by meeting success metrics. The candidate must possess knowledge of best practices around on-page optimization and off-page optimization to support overall SEO strategy of Chegg. Experience and knowledge associated with site architecture and website backend will be critical to this role.

You need to be the go-to person within Marketing Operations (MO) for anything SEO
You’ll be responsible for developing SEO strategies and processes to an impressive array of student first products/business units
You should be able to provide recommendations, if required, to the associated stakeholders for better optimized sites
You should be able to accelerate the growth of SEO group

Key functions of the role:

Work closely with the leadership and key stakeholders to manage SEO programs
Deliver on strategic SEO projects like content gap analysis, keyword research, competitor site teardown, etc. by meeting success metrics (clear direction of recommendations and priorities)
Consolidate findings from multiple data sources (e.g. SEMRush, SimilarWeb, manual audits, onCrawl) down to actionable takeaways.
Partner with US based SEO stakeholders to ensure both sides are aligned on everything
Nurture, mentor, and grow the MO SEO talent
Aid the development of new MO SEO capabilities
Create and optimize processes to scale up operations
Audit websites and provide technical recommendations to improve SEO visibility
Help to work with content team to identify and author new content opportunities
Report and communicate strategies, progress, results in sync with agreed KPIs
Gather, analyze, and report insights on processes to enable continuous improvement
Evaluate opportunities consistently to expand capacity through process improvement

Required Candidate profile

Qualification: UG or PG in any stream [MBA preferred but not mandatory]
5+ years in a similar role [experience in a process driven environment preferred]
Experience in a team management role [leading 5 people at least] is a necessity
Tools and platforms:
Keyword Planner, Screaming Frog, Moz, Majestic SEO, Ahref, GWT, Ahref, Jira, Confluence, Excel
SQL, HTML, Python
Certification: Any process or project management certification, from a credible organization such as ASQ, IASSC, PMI, Scrum Alliance, etc.
Communication: Excellent speaking and writing capabilities [preferably US English]
